Restoration Work

As well as new builds, P. J. Barber Boatbuilders Ltd also undertake restoration work of boats. This can include simple re-footing, re-bottoming or to the large scale projects. Please click a link below to view restoration of a boat which has been completed, or is undergoing restoration.

WHITBY: Whitby is a 1936, Large Northwich motor boat built by W. J. Yarwood and Sons for the Grand Union Canal Carrying Company. She continued working commercially for both British Waterways and Threefellows Carrying. In later years she rested at Dadfords Shed in Stourbridge until being purchased by Paul.

EMU: Emu, like Whitby was built by Yarwoods of Northwich, but this time was built for the Fellows, Morton and Clayton fleet. Afterwards, in 1949, she passed into the British Waterways fleet, then laterly Willow Wren where eventually she was used as a camping boat. Emu was then converted and slowly deteriorated, until being purchased by Michael Pinnock.

LEPUS: Lepus, like the above pair of boats was built by Yarwoods of Northwich, this time in 1935 and for the Grand Union Canal Carrying Company as an unpowered butty boat. In recent years she has been motorised and shortened to 57ft.
